The New Infrastructure of Business – available now in Chattanooga

Chattanooga’s mayor, Ron Littlefield, spoke at the US Conference of Mayors Annual Meeting held June 17 in Baltimore. In the video below Mayor Ron Littlefield and Norman Jacknis, Cisco IBSG Public Sector Director discussing the gigabit fiber network that the city has deployed throughout its metro area and its implications for future economic development.

Jacknis talked about the entrepreneurial spirit of the Scenic City citing that a number of young professionals have returned to Chattanooga because of the infrastructure being built and high speed Internet access. Economical development, quality of life, access to education and training via video, entertainment, gaming all contribute to the city being a desirable location for business entities.

Chattanooga’s Press Conference for ICF Top 7 Intelligent Community Designation

A press conference held today at EPB highlighted the city’s recent Top 7 designation by the Intelligent Community Forum. ICF co-founder Robert Belle spoke to a standing room only crowd of business, community and government leaders via Skype to congratulate the Scenic City for making the cut.

Last November, Chattanooga made the first cut to be included among the Top 21. Making the second cut to be named one of the Smart 7 is an exciting development.

The Scenic City is now on a quest to be named the Intelligent Community of the Year in June. Previous recipients include:

  • Seoul, South Korea
  • New York, New York
  • Singapore
  • Taipei, Taiwan
  • Glasgow, Scotland
  • Ontario, Canada
  • Suwon, South Korea
  • Calgary, Canada
  • Stockholm, Sweden
