Andy Dunn, CEO of Bonobos, goes to bat for Lucy Beard and Feetz at Southland

“That’s a helluva recommendation”

Andy Dunn, CEO of Bonobos, makes his living selling well-crafted, great fitting men’s clothing online. He has a knack for spotting things that people will want and buy via the Bonobos website.  In Nashville, his eyes rested upon Feetz, a San Diego startup led by tenacious Lucy Beard. Lucy is the well spoken, passionate spokesperson (and founder) of the 3D shoe manufacturer who is also a participant in the 2014 GigTank competition.

Feetz was invited to the 2014 Southland Conference along with five startups from Chattanooga – Iron Gaming, Skuidify, Campus Bellhops, ReadyCart and Ambition. Ambition and Feetz were selected to make a five minute audience presentation followed by a five minute Q&A Shark Tank-esque session with a panel of potential investors. Mentors were assigned to the presenters who sometimes stepped in as a conduit for the startup  and investors. When doubts of the viability of the Feetz concept were raised by some of the investors Andy Dunn jumped in to not only answer questions, but actively advocate for the idea.

Dunn was particularly impressed with Beard, and said he believes she has a huge solve that could turn into a $70 million business by year five. He also indicated a desire to invest. Watch the video for all his comments along with some commentary by Sarah Lacy of Pando Daily.
